Varsity girls boost record to 5-1

by MaKenzie Harbaugh

The Lady Musketeers hosted the Valmeyer Lady Pirates on Nov. 21 for their home opener. It was also the Musketeer’s first conference game of the season. Red Bud knew they needed to play their game with composure.

In the first quarter, Red Bud came out strong and played great defense. The Musketeers were also able to put points on the board with no problem. Sophie Richards put in two shots from the post and was fouled multiple times, going two for six from the free throw line. Mackenzie Schweizer also made two, two-pointers. Hope Guebert made a shot from the high post and went one for two from the free throw line as well. Laura Juelfs went up strong for a shot at the post and was fouled. She made both free throws, adding another two points to the board. MaKenzie Harbaugh was also fouled on a shot after getting an offensive rebound and made one of two shots from the free throw line. Red Bud was ahead 16-4 at the end of the quarter.
