Red Bud started the previous week at home, hosting the Valmeyer Pirates. Cole Steibel took the mound to start the game where the Pirates were able to jump out to a one run lead in the first inning. The Musketeers then came to the plate and scored a run of their own to tie the game at 1-1.
After Steibel blanked Valmeyer in the top of the second, Red Bud pushed ahead with a three-run inning behind Gage Baldwin and Parker Van Dorn’s bats. After the Pirates scored twice in the third inning, the Musketeers scored one run to bring the score to 5-2. Neither team was able to score in the fourth inning as Steibel continued a strong start. Red Bud came out in the fifth inning and hung five more runs on the board. This time a pair of sophomores came up big for the team, Brandon Voss and Max Simpson batted in four of those runs. Alex Kueker then came in relief of Steibel in the top of the sixth as the Pirates were able to score two runs, bringing the score to 10-5. After recording the final out of the sixth, Kueker stayed in for the seventh. After giving up two runs, the Musketeers earned the 10-7 victory to sweep the season series against Valmeyer.
