This year’s Twelfth Night Ball will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6 in Prairie du Rocher.
Please note that no coolers or outside liquor will be allowed. The American Legion offers a full service cash bar and will offer several wines specially selected for the ball. Commemorative glasses will be available for sale at the door.
Music for the ball is provided by Cousin Curtis and the Cash Rebates, an old-time string band offering waltzes, schottisches, polkas, reels and square dances. Don’t worry if you don’t know the dances, the caller gives brief instructions before the dances and will walk everyone through the steps.
The ball will be held from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. Doors open at 6, dancing starts at 8, cake is served at about 9.
The ball is held at the American Legion Hall, 509 Henry Street (IL 155) in Prairie du Rocher. Admission is $10 per person; age 14 and under is $5, but must be accompanied by an adult; the family price is $30.
The ball is sponsored by La Guiannee Societe, a not for profit group dedicated to keeping many of our local customs alive.
