Twelfth Night Ball held

BALL ROYALTY–Crowned king and queen of this year’s Twelfth Night Ball were Nicholas Wittenbrink of Red Bud and Jamie Moser of St. Louis, Missouri. For more pictures from the ball, please see this week’s print edition..

Chilly weather may have kept some people away, but those that came out last Saturday night had a great time at the annual Twelfth Night Ball in Prairie du Rocher.

At the ball each year, a traditional king’s cake is served to all the gentlemen in attendance. Four beans are hidden in the cake and the first to find a bean is declared the king. The other gentlemen finding beans make up the rest of the court.

No one knows the locations of the beans, so the selection of the court royalty each year is completely left to chance.

Crowned as this year’s king was Nicholas Wittenbrink of Red Bud. He chose Jamie Moser of St. Louis, MO as his queen.
