Student achievements are focus of Red Bud School Board meeting

Student achievements, the school district’s report card and some course additions were the big topics of discussion at the Nov. 14 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

From the elementary school, Principal Ryan McClellan wanted to recognize two students and a teacher for their accomplishments.

First he highlighted fifth grade teacher Stephanie Lerch. He noted that her engaging activities utilize technology to help, as well as assess, students. McClellan pointed out that thanks to Lerch’s teaching style and use of technology, 30 percent more fifth graders had scores that met or exceeded the PARCC Assessment. “That’s a huge gain,” he said.

In addition, McClellan pointed out that Lerch helps other teachers, inviting them into her classroom to observe, as well as design mini sessions to train them. She was also named an Edulastic Eductor.

McClellan then recognized two students, fifth grader Presley Billingsley and second grader Luke McClellan.
