Strong winds swept through area

Around 6:30 p.m. on the evening of Monday, Aug. 10, a very strong storm swept through the local area.

The winds damaged or toppled many trees, as well as damaged a few structures. Power outages were reported in several areas. The outages ranged from minor power blinks to being out for hours.

In Red Bud, the utility workers worked nonstop from the time the storm hit through the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 11 to clean up the debris and restore power.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the Randolph County EMA did not report any injuries or major damage in the county.
