St. John’s Lutheran Church honored their pastor, Rev. Mark Nebel, with a reception in the fellowship hall on Sunday, Oct. 25. The reception was organized for Pastor Appreciation Month and also to observe his 30th anniversary of being in the Ministry of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod. Head Elder Stuart Langrehr introduced Pastor Nebel and gave a little history of his ministry. The faculty sang a song about his ministry to the tune of “Listen, God is Calling” adapted by Betty Schmitz. All of the Nebel children, Mary, Chelsea, Michael, Matthew and Clara, were able to surprise him and be home to spend the weekend with him and his wife Cindy. Light refreshments were served and a card shower was given in his honor by the members of the congregation. Pictured at the event is the Nebel family: Michael and Christa Nebel, Matthew Nebel, Cindy and Pastor Mark Nebel, Mary Hemme, Clara Nebel, and Chelsea and Shane Smithson.
