Several fire calls in area this week

Local fire departments have already had several fire calls to start the new year.

On New Year’s Day, around 1:30 a.m., there was a structure fire reported on Baldwin Road. Responding were the Baldwin, Red Bud and Sparta Fire Departments.

Red Bud Fire Chief Kevin Miller told the North County News that it was a shed that had caught fire and there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Later that morning around 5:20 a.m., there was a fire call in the Hecker area with both Hecker and Red Bud Fire Departments responding.

Miller noted that the home had filled with smoke, but there was no fire. No injures were reported.

On Jan. 2 around 1:45 p.m., a trailer fire was reported on Clubhouse Road, outside of Evansville. Responding to the call were the Evansville, Red Bud and Ellis Grove Fire Departments.

Miller said that no one was in the home at the time of the fire and that there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
