School board honors students and staff at Sept. 20 meeting

RECOGNIZED AT MEETING–Two students and three district staff members were recognized at the Sept. 20 Red Bud Board of Eduction meeting. Pictured with the board members are: Grace Wallace, Jeff Kern, Kim Straub, Jared Piel and Pam Seals.

Student/staff recognition and an update about standards-based reporting were the main topics at the Sept. 20 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

From the elementary school, Assistant Principal Barry Wittler wanted to recognize eighth grader Grace Wallace. “She is involved in everything offered at the building,” he told the board, noting Wallace’s participation in multiple sports, the student advisory council and more. “She is extremely helpful and reliable.”

Elementary Principal Ryan McClellan, also added about Wallace that not only does she participate in everything the school offers, but she excels at it.

For staff, McClellan wanted to recognize Librarian Pam Seals and eighth grade language arts teacher Kim Straub.

This pair of teachers, he noted, have been working very hard on a literacy campaign and being more involved with the community. This includes a community book club, where not only are students encouraged to read a book, but so are members of the community.
