School board focused on start of the school year

Getting ready for the new school year was the main topic of discussion at the Aug. 16 Red Bud Board of Education meeting.

Elementary Principal Ryan McClellan introduced the new teachers for the school to the board.

High School Principal Rob Pipher reported that the school has another Rotary exchange student this year. This year’s student is Simone Neltoft from Denmark, who arrived last weekend. “She is very outgoing, very nice.”

Pipher pointed out that this is the third year in a row that the high school has had a Rotary exchange student. “It is very beneficial to have these exchange students,” he added, pointing out that it allows students to build international relationships.

Curriculum Director Dustin Nail reported that he has been helping teachers prepare for the start of the school year and to get everything they need ready.

District Building and Grounds Director Randy Battas reported to the board that the summer went well and all the summer projects were completed. He added that his team of custodians did a great job.

He also reported that the new lights at the football field looked good and the new sidewalks by the bleachers are complete.
