Red Bud High School junior, Olivia Kertz, would like to invite the community to attend “Glitz for Wishes”. This prom, homecoming, wedding and formal gown fashion show has been created to raise money for Make-A-Wish® Illinois.
Kertz is hosting the fashion show as part of a 20Time Project for Mrs. Sara Steppig’s English III A Class at Red Bud High School. She is asking for donations to benefit Make-A-Wish® Illinois. Make-A-Wish grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
“I wanted to do something charitable that involves kids. I love fashion as well so I combined the two. I really want to raise money to help this organization,” said Kertz.
“Olivia is so motivated and passionate about this opportunity,” said Steppig.
“I’m so proud of all she has accomplished with the 20Time project. This is the first year I’ve tried this project-based learning opportunity with my classes, so she is the first to take on such an important endeavor singlehandedly!”
Steppig explained the 20Time project is student-based. They choose any project that they feel strongly/passionately about and Steppig “gives” them twenty percent of the class time to work on it.
Glitz for Wishes will be held on Saturday, April 7 from 2-4 p.m. at Red Bud High School (new gym). Doors will open at 1:30 p.m.
The event features a live auction featuring prom gowns donated by Favianna NY.
