DO WELL AT STATE COMPETITION–Members of the Red Bud High School FBLA chapter did very well at the FBLA State Competition last weekend. Pictured are chapter members: Alex Sievers, Caleb Langrehr, Hannah Piel, Alex Scheffert, Owen Fahey and Paul Cowsert.
On April 6-7, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapters from across Illinois migrated to Springfield for the annual FBLA State Leadership Conference and competition.
The competition categories cover public speaking, coding/programming, business management and many other topics. Competitors perform in front of judges who rate them not only on their projects, but also on their presentation; all while other competitors, advisory and onlookers watch.
While competitors attend the conference and give it their all, others who chose not to compete or chose an event which was taken on a computer prior to the conference can attend seminars. These seminars teach them to become better in the business world and build skills to help them later in life.
The Red Bud High School FBLA had six members attend the state conference this year: senior and chapter president Hannah Piel, senior Alex Scheffert, juniors Alex Sievers and Caleb Langrehr, and freshmen Owen Fahey and Paul Cowsert.
From the team, three placed in their respective areas: Piel placed seventh in impromptu speaking, Fahey earned second in introduction to information technology and Cowsert claimed first in introduction to information technology.
