It’s almost time again for the annual Rally on the River, a benefit event for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. It will be held on Saturday, May 26, starting in downtown Evansville.
Mark McConachie, one of the event organizers, noted that the rally keeps getting bigger every year and hopes this one to be the biggest yet.
With it being held during Memorial Day weekend, one of the biggest highlights of the day will be the veterans salute at noon.
McConachie noted that the service is “To honor the men and women of our armed forces who paid the ultimate price so that all Americans and free people of the world may live in peace and freedom.”
He is inviting any and all service personnel, as well as the general public to attend this very moving memorial service.
Registration for the rally will start at the 10:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Anyone can participate using any type of vehicle – Jeeps, cars, trucks, motorcycles, even buses are welcome.
At 1 p.m., there will be a ceremony to get the rally underway. This year’s grand marshal is Zachary Buchheit. He is the 3 year old son of Tyler and Teresa Buchheit of Ellis Grove. His sisters are: Adeline, 9, Annie, 6, and Eleanor, 1.
He was born premature and spent his first 29 days at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. Zachary is excited to signal the start of this year’s rally.
