This weekend, it’s time again for the annual Rally on the River, a benefit event for Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. The sixth annual rally will be held on Saturday, May 25, starting in downtown Evansville.
Mark McConachie, one of the event organizers, noted that the rally keeps getting bigger every year and hopes this one to be their biggest yet.
With the event being held during Memorial Day weekend, one of the biggest highlights of the day will be the veterans salute at noon.
McConachie noted that the service is “To honor the men and women of our armed forces who paid the ultimate price so that all Americans and free people of the world may live in peace and freedom.”
He is inviting any and all service personnel, as well as the general public to attend this very moving memorial service. Even if people don’t plan to participate in the rally itself, McConachie is urging all to come out and attend the veterans salute.
Registration for the rally will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Anyone can participate using any type of vehicle – Jeeps, cars, trucks, motorcycles, even buses are welcome.
At 1 p.m., the rally will get underway. Evelyn Cocos will serve as this year’s grand marshal and will signal the start of the event. She is the daughter of Joe and Kim Cocos of Prairie du Rocher.
