The Pierre Menard Home State Historic Site will soon hold their annual Christmas festival. All are invited to come celebrate Christmas in 19th century traditions. Period dress is encouraged, but not required.
Come join in on celebrating the Christmas season with the traditions the French of Kaskaskia, New Orleans and Montreal Canada would have in the 1800s. Some of these traditions are even still done today.
On Friday Dec. 7 tours of the home will be available from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children will be able to make dolls or hunting bags to take home. They can also make ornaments or string popcorn to place on the house tree.
