Avery Piel, a member of the Red Bud Waverunners, had a perfect individual day at the 2018 Shawnee Conference Meet held in Pinckneyville.
She received first place in the individual medley, butterfly and freestyle events. These first places gave her the honor of being named the High Point Winner of the 15-18 year old girl’s division.
“This is very exciting considering she is 15 and racing girls that are 18 years old,” said Coach Angie Cartee.
“We love watching her and how smooth of a swimmer she is. Avery is an amazing leader for our team and has been a big help with all the little swimmers that look up to her,” added Cartee.
On top of winning the High Point Award, Piel broke conference records in the individual medley and the freestyle. The coaches are very proud of Piel.
Avery is the daughter of Alan and Amber Piel.
