Musketeers split last week

by Caleb Langrehr

The Musketeers opened the week last Tuesday at Metro East Lutheran to face the Knights.

Alex Kueker got the start, throwing one inning giving up three runs on three hits. The Knights took a 4-0 lead into the second inning where Red Bud matched the score at 4-4. Max Simpson came on in the bottom of the second and went on to pitch four and one-third innings surrendering two runs and five hits.

The game went into extra innings tied at 6-6. Red Bud scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to take an 11-6 lead. The Knights came back and scored three runs to cut the lead to 11-9, but that was as close as the score would get as Parker Van Dorn converted his second save of the season. The Musketeers came home with the 11-9 extra-inning win to face Gibault on Thursday.

Gibault came into Thursday’s game 7-0 on the season and playing well.
