Musketeers open up conference play

By: Jayden Birkner

Coming off a highly emotional and exciting win against Cairo, the Musketeers traveled to Steeleville to take on the Warriors. The Warriors have had the Musketeers’ number for their past few meetings, but the Musketeers were ready to take on their conference rival.

For the first few minutes of the game, it was a back and forth battle. Bryce Amann opened up the scoring with a layup on the first possession. Carter Wiegard knocked down a three and Jayden Birkner scored a layup off the dish from Alex Kueker. In the middle of the first it was 8-7 Steeleville. From that point on the Warriors took over the game, going on a huge scoring run. The Musketeers were not getting back on defense and the Warriors got easy transition buckets. The score was 17-7 Warriors at the end of the first.

The Warriors continued pouring it onto the Musketeers in the second quarter. The Musketeers could not take the lid off the basket and continued to turn the ball over. Their deficit increased to 38-12 going into half.
