The Red Bud High football team dropped to 2-3 for the season with a 42-21 loss to the Midgets in Freeburg last Friday night.
The game looked promising at the start with the Musketeers scoring first on a 28 yard TD run by Austin Melliere. Sam Carroll’s kick was good and the Boys took an early 7-0 lead. Freeburg answered with an 18 yard touchdown run to tie the game at 7-7 to end the first quarter.
In the second quarter, the Midgets took the lead on a 21-yard run midway through the period. Red Bud came storming back less than two minutes later scoring on a one yard TD dive by Seth Bass to tie the game at 14 all. Freeburg put together a drive that was capped with a 32 yard TD pass to regain the lead with just under three minutes in the half and added another score on a one yard plunge with 1:39 remaining to take a 28-14 lead into the half.
