Monroe County has reported first COVID-19 related death

This week, Monroe County reported its first COVID-19 related death and the numbers of confirmed positive cases in both Randolph and Monroe Counties continued to climb.

On Tuesday afternoon, April 7, Monroe County Health Department Administrator John Wagner was reporting that the first virus related death there was an 80 year old male, who was one of the county’s previously reported positive cases. 

As of that afternoon, he added that there was a total 16 positive cases in Monroe County.

Wagner had reported as of last Friday, of Monroe County’s COVID-19 cases, two individuals were hospitalized and two had recovered.

In Randolph County, Health Department Administrator Angela Oathout reported last Friday that there were 17 confirmed cases in the county, with one individual hospitalized and the rest all recovering at home.
