Miller arrested on multiple charges including arson

On Jan. 31, around 4:41 a.m., the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Steeleville Police Department and Steeleville Fire Department responded to a suspicious fire at the residence of Kenneth R. Miller Jr., 34, on Green Street in Percy.
The Illinois State Fire Marshall was requested to assist in the investigation.
Police recognized Miller in his car as he drove past the fire scene. At about 5:11 a.m., police tried to stop Miller and he fled, refusing to stop.
Around 5:46 a.m., the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office responded to a burglar alarm at Pyramid Oaks Golf Course.
This location had been burglarized. A cash register and other items were taken from this location. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services assisted in the investigation of the burglary.
Around 8:52 a.m., Miller called 911 reporting he was the victim of battery.
Police located Miller and his vehicle. Police recovered evidence of the burglary at Pyramid Oaks Golf Course and a subsequent investigation of the arson and burglary led to Miller’s arrest.
Miller was charged with arson, burglary and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude. He is currently incarcerated at the Randolph County Jail.
