A meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15 to show the design and discuss the fundraising needed to replace the shelter house at Ft. Kaskaskia State Park. The 6:30 p.m. meeting will be held in the third floor lounge at the Randolph County Courthouse in Chester.
Present to lead the meeting will be Randolph County Commissioner Dr. Marc Kiehna, Emily Lyons of the Randolph County Historical Society, Chris Martin representing the Randolph County Community Foundation, Site Manager for Ft. Kaskaskia Chester Wingerter, and Greg Birchler of FS Construction Services.
The former shelter house was destroyed by fire in the fall of 2012. The group is hopeful that a new shelter house will be able to be constructed by the fall of 2018.
The public is encouraged to attend.
