Meechai honored at RBRH recently

IN MEMORY–Pictured are those that were in attendance at the recent dedication ceremony of a picnic table and chairs at Red Bud Regional Hospital. The table and chairs were dedicated in memory of Dr. Meechai Puntumabumrung.

Red Bud Regional took a moment to honor one of their former, long time doctors last week.

Dr. Meechai Puntumabumrung passed away on June 13, 2016 at his home in Red Bud.

Following his death, physicians and employees of Red Bud Regional donated money to purchase a round picnic table, chairs and blue bench to be put underneath the tree in front of the hospital. The hospital donated the remaining funds needed to complete the purchase.

In April 2017, Brian Koch and Tim Deterding donated their time and talent to prepare the site and pour the concrete in preparation to set the picnic table and chairs.

The memorial dedication ceremony was held on Oct. 17, on what would have been Dr. Meechai’s 74th birthday.

Those who gathered for the ceremony included: hospital staff, hospital administration, physicians, former co-workers, friends, family, Father Dennis Schaefer and children from St. John’s Catholic School where Dr. Meechai’s grandchildren attend.

Tari Henne, of the hospital’s health information management department, gave the opening comments; Ann Meechai Fabie and Dr. Pichet Santilukka also spoke to the crowd; and Father Schaefer gave a blessing at the event.
