MedStar Ambulance Inc., of Sparta, has successfully completed the intensive 20-step process to reaccredit as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE).
The communication center is the 59th emergency dispatch center in the world to attain International Academies of Emergency Dispatch® (IAED™) status as an ACE for its use of the Medical Priority Dispatch System™ (MPDS®). This distinction places it among the very highest-performing emergency dispatch agencies on the planet.
Trecia Hanna, who guided the agency through the re-ACE process, is pleased by the achievement. As she explained, the distinction wasn’t easy to achieve. The center lost some call recordings and data due to flooding and a lightning strike. Still, MedStar’s dedicated professionals worked tirelessly with IAED officials to finalize this important honor. This is the fifth time MedStar has accredited as an ACE.
“It feels absolutely amazing to achieve this,” Hanna said. “I’m just extremely proud of it. It’s one thing to achieve ACE, but it’s another to maintain it.”
