Math team brings home state awards

On May 4, the Red Bud High School Math Team headed up to Champaign for the State Math Team competition. The Algebra I Writtens team, Geometry Writtens team, Freshmen/Sophomore two person team and Orals team all advanced to state.

The Algebra I Writtens team, consisting of Ethan Fritsche, Brendan Harms, Dylan Roscow, LeAnn Walker, Owen Fahey and Ben DeRousse, placed fourth overall. Dylan Roscow had the top individual score, taking first place in Algebra I Writtens individually.

The Geometry Writtens team, consisting of Nolan Cowell, Jason Pfannebecker, Josh Birke, Zach Sutton, Caitlin Dehne and Landon Hohgrefe, won seventh place overall. Josh Birke took 10th place individually in Geometry Writtens.

Alyssa Heller and Alex Sievers competed as a team in the orals competition. They placed fifth.

In addition to the amazing personal and team scores, the Red Bud Math Team T-shirt won first place in the annual T-shirt competition.
