With not much local competition on the primary ballots, not many people cast their votes on Tuesday, March 20. Randolph County reported a measly 17 percent voter turn out, while only 16 percent voted in Monroe County.
While the absentee ballots are not yet counted, these are the unofficial results as reported by the voting precincts in Randolph and Monroe Counties as of 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday night.
The biggest race in Randolph County was on the Republican ballot between Melanie Johnson and Cypress Gibson for county clerk. Johnson won with 1,353 votes over Gibson’s 259.
Johnson will now face Democrat Bobby Klausing, who received 1,627 votes on Tuesday, in the general election this November.
All of the other Randolph County candidates were unopposed on their perspective ballots.
