The Randolph County Cutters & Strutters Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host their eighth Annual JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) Day on Saturday, Aug. 18. The event will take place at the sporting clays area located at the west end of the World Shooting & Recreational Complex in Sparta.
Registration will be from 7:30 – 8 a.m. Upon registering, each youth participant will receive a custom-designed JAKES T-Shirt. As last year, there is no registration fee. The $10 fee per youth is paid by the Illinois State Chapter of the NWTF.
JAKES Day is designed to let the youth have a day of fun participating in hands-on outdoor activities. This year’s activity stations will include: air rifle shooting at 2 ¼ inch clay targets and metal spinners, archery shooting at bullseye targets, clay bird shooting, gun safety/handling instructions, shotgun patterning and a special presentation by the River City Wildlife Center. At the end of the event, all JAKES participants will have an opportunity to win a variety of prizes.
