SPECIAL RECOGNITION–Human Service Center Executive Director Shea Haury was recently presented with the prestigious George Schwab Award.
Illinois’ leading behavioral health leadership award was bestowed last month on southern Illinois advocate Shea Haury, executive director of the Human Service Center in Red Bud.
The prestigious George Schwab Award, granted annually by the Illinois Association for Behavioral Health (IABH) to individuals for their “sacrifice and commitment to the behavioral health field,” was presented to Haury at the association’s annual conference in St. Louis on Oct. 24.
The award is given in memory of George Schwab, president of Illinois Alcoholism and Drug Dependence Association (now IABH) from 1979-1980.
“Shea Haury symbolizes the type of leadership, sacrifice, and commitment to the behavioral health field in Illinois that improves mental health and addiction services in southern Illinois and across the state,” said IABH CEO Sara Howe. “Shea has vigorously engaged local and state policy makers to support behavioral health and has single-handedly recruited five, southern Illinois providers to join the association, strengthening the voice of southern Illinois in behavioral health public policy development in Springfield.”
