Red Bud High School’s wrestling team has completed its third season and Senior Pierce Heizer has been an influential part of the team since its inception.
Heizer started the team as a sophomore, recalling his 4-15 record that first year.
“I was tired of basketball and wanted to try something new. One day I got an email from Mr. Pipher, talking about a wrestling club and I figured what’s the worst that can happen? Having got my black belt in karate a few years earlier, and my experience with football, I figured I might as well give it a try,” he said.
It proved to be a good decision for Heizer as his junior year he accomplished a record of 20-12 and completed his senior year with 27 wins and seven losses for an overall record of 51-34.
