With the announcement last week that the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) is moving their Grand American event to Missouri this summer, there was concern that the event would not return to the World Shooting and Recreational Complex in Sparta.
ATA Executive Director Lynn Gipson spoke with the North County Newsabout the move and the event’s future.
While the ATA had wanted to hold the event in Randolph County as normal this year, Gipson stated that they were fortunate the alternative location for this year’s event is close and can facilitate the event.
Unfortunately, relocating the event this year will come at a “tremendous” expense to the ATA. He is also unsure of how the move will impact future attendance of the event.
In good news for the area though, Gipson stated the Grand American will return to the World Shooting and Recreational Complex (WSRC) next year.
