Golf team takes second at conference tournament, Three named All Conference

Six members of Red Bud High School’s boys golf team traveled to Carlyle to compete in the Cahokia Conference Tournament on Sept. 25. The tournament was held at Governor’s Run golf course. The team included Caleb Langrehr, Jesse Suhre, Alex Kueker, Austin Grohmann, Dylan Roscow and Camden Langrehr.

The course was quite wet due to rain that occurred during the early morning hours. Despite a very wet course and playing as well as they could, the Musketeers (377) were edged by a single stroke by the Marissa Meteors (376) and settled for second place.

Three Musketeer golfers made the All Conference (Kaskaskia Division) team. Alex Kueker shot 80 to take second place; Jesse Suhre carded 88 to take fourth place and Caleb Langrehr tied for eighth place with a 94. Rounding out the scoring was Austin Grohmann (115) and Camden Langrehr (117).

Steeleville placed third with 382; New Athens 384; Lebanon 431 and Valmeyer 432.

The team played in regionals on Tuesday at The Acorns in Waterloo. Results were not available at press time.
