Get Illinois Bicentennial postmarks at local events

In order to celebrate the Bicentennial (200th) year of Illinois, several local communities have created pictorial postmarks which will be made available during a community event.

On July 4, there will be two pictorial postmarks available in Randolph County: Kaskaskia and Steeleville.

The Village of Kaskaskia would like to invite everyone that is attending the 4th of July celebration on Kaskaskia Island to stop by and get a pictorial postmark. The postmark will be available from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the grounds near the the Kaskaskia Bell State Historic Site.

Local artist Mary Sulsur designed the Kaskaskia Pictorial Postmark.

The Village of Steeleville would also like to invite everyone that is attending their 4th of July celebration to come by and get a pictorial postmark. The postmark will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the craft fair held at the Steeleville American Legion Hall. The table will be in the small hall of the legion.

Local artist Karley Kothe designed the Steeleville Pictorial Postmark.
