There wasn’t much on the agenda for the Feb. 21 Randolph County Board of Commissioners meeting, but a question about raffle licenses was raised.
The commissioners were considering four raffle licenses at the meeting. They were for: Les Coureurs Des Bois De Fort De Chartres; the Trico Lions Club, the Southern Storm and Team Korbin.
When the state changed the gambling laws, this required the county to have to approve more raffle licenses. But there was a question on if some of those applying were non-profits or civic organizations, and what exactly was allowed and who was benefitting.
While the commissioners support sports teams, they did question if those qualified under the ordinance. They wanted to make sure they were abiding by the rules that were established for raffles.
