Council discusses pool maintenance proposal

RED BUD MAYORS–The plaque listing all of the mayors for the City of Red Bud has been completed and will be installed soon at the city hall. Current Mayor Tim Lowry is pictured with the plaque following Monday night’s council meeting.

Maintenance work for the city pool was one of the bigger topics of discussion at the Red Bud City Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 5.

The council considered a proposal from Jerry Hotop Painting LLC of Perryville, MO, for sandblasting and painting of the pool. The total amount was $18,222.

When discussing if they should go out to bid for the work, Alderman Glenn Linnertz noted that it was under $20,000 and City Administrative Assistant Pam Poetker added that she was not sure if any other company offered these services.

When asked about the last time the pool has had this type of maintenance done, Poetker thought that it was last sandblasted in 2008. She did note that the proposal not only covered sandblasting and painting, but also pulling out the pool’s putty and expansion joints, cleaning and replacing them.

As approving the proposal was not on the council’s agenda for the night, it will go on the agenda for their next meeting.

In other council matters, they took a moment during the meeting to acknowledge that the plaque recognizing all of the city’s mayors was complete.

While they don’t have an exact spot picked yet for the plaque, they do plan to have it put up in the lobby of city hall.
