While the future of a possible solar farm outside of Baldwin in Randolph County is growing dim, a movement is being made for a wind farm to be set up along the bluffs between Valmeyer and Fults.
According to the Republic-Times, Joe Koppeis, a local developer, approached the Monroe County Board of Commissioners at their Aug. 6 meeting with a plan to put in a 50 tower wind farm. Each of the wind turbine towers would be 330 feet tall.
He told the commissioners that the wind farm would generate both tax revenues and energy for the county. The commissioners tabled the request, saying that this is a long ongoing process and that there may be environmental issues to resolve. And there is the process of securing access to the land.
