The Red Bud City Council held a brief meeting with not much discussion on Monday night. Though one alderman did want to make a comment about action taken at a recent special meeting.
The council held a special meeting on Nov. 20 with the main topics of the meeting being insurance renewals and purchase of real estate.
Specifically, the council approved of purchasing 48.24 acres from the Guebert Family for $675,360; as well as 4.96 acres from the Voges Trust for $69,440. Both pieces of property are east of town, next to the east industrial park, and will provide for potential expansion of the industrial park.
“It’s important for this council to appreciate the hard work that went into that,” Alderman Mike Reed said about the purchase at Monday night’s regular council meeting. He added that the purchase of the Guebert property has been in the works for some time, with them trying to negotiate a price that was fair to both sides.
