On Tuesday, November 28, the Red Bud Lady Musketeers hosted the Waterloo Lady Bulldogs. Knowing it was going to be a close game, the Musketeers knew that they needed to continue to play good defense and play just as strong offense, as well.
In the first quarter, Red Bud came out strong on defense and held Waterloo to five points. However, they were struggling to knock in shots and only put 10 points on the board. Laura Juelfs posted up strong and made a two-point shot. Sophia Koesterer and MaKenzie Harbaugh both made a cut to the basket knocking in a shot to add two points each to the board. Sophie Richards also made a two-pointer from the post and went two for four from the free throw line. At the end of the quarter, Red Bud was leading 10-5.
The Lady Musketeers struggled a lot offensively in the second quarter. The Bulldogs outscored the Musketeers seven to four. Juelfs was strong at the post and put in two, two-pointers after getting the offensive rebounds. Going into halftime, Red Bud was ahead 14-12.
