The Kaskaskia congregation at the historic church near the Liberty Bell of the West Shrine is saluting our country on July 4 by ringing the church bells for 242 seconds in memory of the 242 years since George Rogers Clark arrived in Kaskaskia to liberate the village inhabitants from the British in 1778.
The bells will ring at 4:25 p.m. following mass. Please RSVP to attend the 3:30 p.m. mass or to reserve a plate lunch (curbside only).
For those driving to hear the bells from their vehicles, there should be plenty of parking spots nearby. Visitors are asked to wear masks and observe distancing if leaving their vehicles.
