Basketball has become a tradition for local family

A FAMILY BASKETBALL TRADITION–These 15 first and second cousins are all currently playing basketball for local teams. They are: Samantha Lucht, Chloe Kraus, Claire Grohmann, Easton Lucht, Addi Dilley, Trace Wagner, Chase Lucht, Alayna Kraus, Crewe Wagner, Trenton Wagner, Barrett Wagner, Clare Carnahan, Landon Kraus, Jackson Carnahan and Blakelyn Grohmann.

With basketball season wrapping up, a local family realized they had a lot of members currently playing the sport.

On a recent Saturday morning, there was a small gathering where all of these cousins could meet up, get a picture of all of them in their uniforms, and even play a little of the sport they all enjoy, with a few former players in the family also joining in.

Making up the family’s current basketball players are: Samantha Lucht, a senior at Red Bud High School; Chloe Kraus, a junior at Okawville High School; Claire Grohmann, a junior at RBHS; Easton Lucht, a sophomore at RBHS; Addi Dilley, Trace Wagner and Chase Lucht, all eighth graders at St. John’s Lutheran School; Alayna Kraus, an eighth grader at Okawville; Crewe Wagner and Trenton Wagner, seventh graders at St. John’s Lutheran; Barrett Wagner, a fifth grader at St. John’s; Clare Carnahan, a third grader at Red Bud Elementary; Landon Kraus, a third grader at Okawville; Jackson Carnahan, a kindergartener at Red Bud Elementary; and Blakelyn Grohmann, a preschooler at St. John’s Lutheran.

What is interesting is that some of these cousins have played against each other in games.

It is also notable that of all these current players, Addi Dilley has achieved 1,000 points; and Alayna Kraus plays on a team that is the back to back state champions.
