The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start by scoring five runs in the first two innings. The Musketeer’s bats were slow again as the team had four hits for the entire game. In the top of the fourth inning, Chester added four runs to take the 9-0 lead. Kueker’s day was done on the mound as Nathan Theis came to the mound for the fifth inning. Chester added one run in the top of the fifth to take the 10-0 lead. Red Bud was not able to respond in the bottom of the inning as the Yellow Jackets beat the Musketeers in a 10-0 short game.
After rainouts on Thursday and Friday, the Musketeers traveled to Wood River on Saturday to take on the Oilers in a doubleheader. Cole Steibel took the mound and was dominant in a six inning, one hit, and one run start with 11 strikeouts.
Red Bud’s bats came alive as the team scored two runs in the top of the third inning with a double from Jeff Kern that scored Nathan Theis and Max Simpson. As Steibel continued to sit the opposing team’s lineup down, Red Bud added three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a strong 5-0 lead.
