Accident caused outage in Baldwin

CAUSE OF OUTAGE–Pictured is the semi that struck a power pole in Baldwin on Monday afternoon, causing a power outage for a few hours. The truck also hit two mailboxes, one of which can be seen on the right side of the picture.

Most of Baldwin was without power on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 6 following an accident on Fifth Street.

Multiple Illinois State Police troopers responded to a call at 12:10 p.m. for a semi truck and trailer that struck a power pole at the intersection of Fifth and Chestnut Streets, as well as two mailboxes. Due to the accident, there were some downed power lines, causing the power outage.

The semi, driven by Lance LA Vell Anderson, 41, of St. Louis, MO, was southbound on Fifth Street and left the roadway to the left, striking the power pole and mailboxes before coming to rest on the sidewalk in front of a residence.
